The 4 Winds topic for March was Track Detectives. Students learned about Walkers, Bounders, Waddlers and Hoppers. They participated in a puppet show and other activities to further explore the size and shape of different animal tracks, as well as "reading the story" in the tracks. Then, despite the limited amount of snow, we went out to try making our own patterns in the snow, imitating the 4 groups. We were also able to find quite a number of interesting tracks along the Nature Trail. | In April, we examined bird nests, comparing shapes, sizes and nesting materials. Students then tried their hand at making their own nest, using a variety of materials, but only two fingers (like a beak) to construct the nests. |
