In the second activity, they needed to find the letters of their name somewhere in nature. They searched for these among rocks, ferns, trees, and other plants. At times, they needed to "gently" nudge a few items together to create a letter that was too difficult to locate naturally. They photographed each letter on their iPads. Once inside, they uploaded and printed the best ones, and created a poster of their name.
The third activity involved building shelters in teams. We located an open area on the trail for this activity, which had a lot of dead wood on the ground, which was to be the building material for the shelters. Students had to work together to create a space that would be large enough for two people to sit in, within a designated amount of time. All of the teams were ultimately successful, and they were very proud of their completed shelters.
It was a wonderful way to end a great school year. We have really enjoyed this time with your children, watching them learn and grow in many exciting ways. We hope that you have a great summer, with time to relax and grow in different ways.
