Snow Day Everywhere
The icy snow carries me as I run across the field with a shovel in my hand
My sister tells me to go get the saw and I run back across the icy plane
My cousin is using a shovel to make a hole in the icy crust
as I come back with the saw
A minute later I say we should slice up icy chunks
And then make them smaller
My cousin goes into the woods with my sister and it is not so icy in there
Oh, I think I see a snowball or two
Oh! They are having a snowball fight
as I saw through the icy crust
the snow dances down around me
When they come back they’re laughing
As I stack the blocks into an igloo
My cousin cuts the wood for the top
and my sister goes to get more sticky fir trees
My sister emerges from the snow covered trees
dragging more fir branches
as I watch her cut the fir tree the wind bites my cheeks
like a wild dog lunging for its prey
Then we finish and go inside
drink hot chocolate and let it scorch our tongues.

WINTER WONDERLAND
Beautiful shining
ice hanging from your roof.
Glimmering ice over your pond.
Trees held down by ice like
a bridge over a river. Snow falling
from clouds. Chickadees gracefully
flying off trees. Snowmen rolling down hills
Snowplows make ice fortresses of goodness.
The nice singe of hot cocoa on your lips. The flaming warmth of
the fireplace when you take your snow pants off.

A Wonderful Winter Day!
Putting a drip of cold smooth maple syrup on delicious
chocolate chip pancakes
Frozen icicles dangling from the icy window
Cooking tiny warm Christmas cookies to eat
Ice skating on hard frozen ice on a frigid day.
Skiing down the chilly mountain in soft powdery snow
Drinking hot yummy chocolatey hot chocolate with tiny fluffy white marshmallows
Putting warm cozy winter boots on to go sledding on the bumpy driveway.
Wild snow whispering right by the warm hot fire
Rabbits nibbling at fluffy white winter snow. Frosty and cold in his soft winter mouth

Winter Musical
Winter is cold Winter is icy
The air is stingy It bites your face.
I watch the tree tops filled up with snow.
as the wind blows the snow on the frozen icicles
It make a sound like rain drops.
The sun twinkles off the icicles
It shines onto the trails when the people ski on cold winter days
making turns so fast and quick.
As the wind blows on your face making it as cold as snow!
O how you watch the animals run free.
They have fun in the deep white snow.
They hop they run they jump and
they stand to watch the snow fall into the deep dark woods.

Snow Poem
by Tim Wilson
White sparkling trees
With white heavy snow
White pine wreaths
With orange lights that glow
As the snow floats down
The fox runs around
The wind was wild at the mountain top
Off the mountain cliff the snow drops
Through the wild woods
The coyote bounds and runs
Through the air
The snow spun
As the ice floats down the river bed
The white wolf fled the river bed
My Snow
The wind is blowing hard
I stand beside a hill
Watching the other boys play in the snow
I can’t play
I’m too little
The snow whispered
Something to me
It sounded like
Pss whirr -----------------------
I...I...it is too cold out here for you
And then something else
Pss whirr ----------------------
M... my name is the snow
I...I...can’t help you but I can give you
Some tips
Go over the hill
You will find
Winter
Twilight
and
me
The
SNOW
We will lead you
to your
Winter
And I need you
To find something
For me
Then it was gone
like moonlight on a winter night!

ICY WINTER AIR
ICICLES FALLING FROM ROOF TOPS,
SNOW RACING THROUGH THE COLD WINTER AIR.
GRASS STOMPED ON BY THE WET HEAVY SNOW.
LIKE HEAVY SNOW ON TREE TOPS.
I AM A EXTRA LARGE ICICLE.
WHHH WHHH SAYS THE WIND,
KKK SAYS THE BREAKING BRANCHES.
I AM FREEZING COLD,
WITH TEMPERATURES DROPPING AND BRANCHES BREAKING.
COLD, COLD, COLD WINTER WONDERLAND…
IT’S SPRING!

Winter In The West.
By Will
Whistling winter winds that howl like wolves.
Icicles dangling from icy houses.
New trees covered in white fresh gleaming snow.
Terrible snow storms and cold freezing rain hitting lonely houses.
Encouraging parents say to go outside and play in the wonderful snow.
Rain hitting the tops of igloos. On cold winter west nights that cements the igloo like bricks in the morning the children will be filled with joy. Because the igloo is rock solid. Ski Racing
By Quinn
my knees are bent my hands are up gripping my poles
I'm excited
impatient
waiting for the buzzer
waiting to ski down the racecourse
then all of a sudden the buzzer goes off
and I fly down the course as I turn my skis carve
left
then
right,
left,
right,
left,
right
and I hit the gates
and before I know it I’m down the hill.
Sugaring
by Aidan
The trees covered with ice and snow after the ice storm.
Icicles dangling from the sugar house roof.
Birch trees fallen over the sap line trying to get it off but it denies.
Finally we cut it in half and its off.
Fixing lines tapping trees in the sugar woods.
Before when it is spring time when we boil.
Boiling sap on the brand new boiler silver and shiny.
Stomping into the woods with my dog Sparrow.
White Winter Wonderland
Inspired by: The Winter
By: Miranda
White traces its wet fingers on branches and stumps.
Black against white seems darker.
One night it starts to rain and I fall asleep in my cuddly blankets.
The very next day while I'm going to school I see gorgeous white, sparkling icicles hanging from the trees,
I suddenly start to go in slow motion.
Wind swirls and pushes down trees.
Water stays sleeping under a cold blanket of see through ice.
Mrs.Rabbit waits to be safe, each day her fur turns whiter and whiter and on the last day a fox comes by to get a little snack of a tasty rabbit
but he could not find what he was looking for.
Tasty hot chocolate strokes my lips and scorches my tongue and brings my stomach to a roaring growl for another sip of scorching hot chocolate.
A blazing fire pops out a set of its finest ruby red sparks POP…..,
the sparks start to go wild, they’re free they’re free they say
and then ka-plooey….
They fall in weakness and lift their heat out of their body and into the air and make a little girl bound out of her warm, cuddly blankets.
Children are playing outside and making snow angels in powdery snow and building snowmen with new fallen snow and making white winter wonderland.
Frogs dig way under in the silky warm blanket of mud,
He’s the last to hop in, he’s scared that summer won't come.
He hops into the water and starts to calm down and starts to freeze and many months later he warms up and sees the sun
and bounds up out of the water and makes a huge splash.
THE
GIANT
SNOWSTORM
The snow can be as quiet as a mouse, as nice as a cat,
but the snow is not always quiet and nice.
The snow can be as loud as a roaring lion,
and as mean and strong as an attacking rhino.
In Winter the snow falls from the sky like feathers dropping from the air.
Inside a snow globe fluffy calm snow falls lightly.
You should try to catch them on your tongue before they melt on your skin
Woosh, all of a sudden there is tons of snow, swirling around,
and you look out your window and see only whiteness it has to be a white out.
The storm is as strong as a giant and as wide as a hippo.
I hope that the most powerful snowstorm will go on!

Skiing at Mount Ellen by Ben Wilson, Grade 3
We hear the tower, BUMP,BUMP,BUMP,BUMP
We feel chair 89 go, BUMP,BUMP,BUMP,BUMP
We see the top of North Ridge Express, “Raise
the bar”. I am excited.
Trees are dangling toward the trail
Making a tunnel
I ski through it
Snow falls off the tree, THUMP
Trees pop back up.
Ppshoo, my skis slide fast
I curve around the steep slope
Zooming to North Star
I feel fantastic.
Skating
I step onto the ice
the sky is blue
barely any clouds
in the sky.
The frigid water

Gliding across
the slippery lake.
With the wind

My face is freezing
up against the wind.
Frost bite is biting my face.

SNOWBALL
Snowball, snowball
size of lemons, hard as rocks.
When you scoop the snowball
and scrunch the snowball
it sounds like crackers when they are
crunched.
The snowball taste like water,
cold as ice cream and ice.
When you look at the snowball
it’s sparkly white.
When you touch the snowball it is cold
if you hold it too long
you will get a frost bite.

SKATING
We are going skating today all right. I am so excited for today.
We are on are
way to the skating rink. I can’t wait.
I run inside to the changing room.
I get my skates on and
I walk carefully down the skating rink.
I start to skate a little too fast
giggle a little just for fun .
I get back up and I see my friend and I say hay.
We go skating together for a little.
We think it is time to go in for cocoa and
cookies and to warm up.
It is time to go I say goodbye to my friend.
Skiing
On a cold winter day up up we go the wind blowing
then off we down the mountain
The air as quiet as a mouse then swish, swish, swish,
up comes the snow from a stop.
Far more before I know.
I’m at the finale of my awsome day.
Beautiful trees on my sides covered in snow,
they look like brides.
The sparkly snowflakes coming down on to me
that I see looking like shooting stars.
I feel remarkable and thrilling as I swiftly shoot down the mount.

Making a Picture in my Window
Looking out my window,
Watching the snow,
falling ever so peacefully.
I sit by the fire,
As warm as the sun,
Always welcoming.
The snow licks the window,
I notice.
Alert as a robin I watch,
The frost making a sparkly pattern,
An eagle soaring over high mountains,
No,
A squirrel catching a nut,
So many different pictures,
Better than any artist,
The snow making a picture in my window
