On Thursday, April 10, the third and fourth graders will be going on a field trip to the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium. We will be viewing a show on “The Night Sky”, to connect to our unit on space. We will also spend time viewing the other exhibits at the museum. We will be traveling by bus, leaving at 8:00 and returning in time for the buses at the end of the day. Although we do not need chaperones, parents are welcome to join us. Students (and parents) will need a snack and a bag lunch.
On Thursday, May 8 the third and fourth grades will be traveling to Montpelier for an all day field trip that connects to our last unit of study, Vermont History. We will be touring the State House and The Vermont History Museum in the Pavilion Buildling. Parents are also welcome to accompany us on this field trip. There is no admission fee. (More details to follow)
About a month ago, you received a letter about a science/art/poetry project that we were doing around the topic, States of Matter. The students wrote some wonderful poems related to this science topic, and produced some beautiful prints. The work was collected from both third and fourth grade classrooms and sent off to a contest sponsored by Scholastic Books. We are thinking of having copies of the book, “Matter Matters” made for all of the students, and have looked into printing costs. The most reasonable estimate seems to be about $10.00. We are trying to assess the interest families have in owning one, to determine whether or not we should go ahead and order copies. Please let us know if you would be interested in purchasing a book.
