In music we finished watching the Nutcracker and guess the songs from the Nutcracker to see if we paid attention to the music and to see how much we learned.
Last week in P.E. we played monster ball which is a game where you have 3 balls. One is a really big one and the other two are workout balls and some are little balls.
In art we watched a video about a famous man who does abstract art. We made backgrounds and put the shapes from the video and painted them on the background.

In math we started a packet that has place value, addition and subtraction. One page is like a cross word puzzle but instead of writing letters you write numbers. One day we did a practice test for SBAC. This is a test we will take later in the year. We did math, but the test is math and reading. The math problems were about multiplication division, addition and subtraction. There were also problems about fractions and angles.
During math class the fourth graders did the first round of the Geo Bee. The Geo Bee is where you get asked geography questions about the world. Two fourth graders will go on to the final round. They are Kayla and Jasper.

In school we have been growing plants for science because we are learning about dominant and recessive traits.Dominant and recessive are really important things for not just humans and animals but plants. One trait you might have from your parents is your hair color, for example if your mom has brown hair (bb) and your dad has black hair (BB) then put it together its bB and that means you are most likely to have brown hair. In P.E we played monster ball. To play monster ball you have to have a really BIG ball and you can not touch the ball unless it is going out of bounds. The rest of the time you are trying to get the ball out of your way by throwing little balls at the big ball.We have been studying Martin Luther King Jr. and Martin was the one who made peace between the colored and the white people.Martin also made the I have a dream speech and we learned a lot about his life.

Last week the third and fourth graders played a game in pe called monster ball. It is super fun because you’re trying to get the exercise ball or gigantic kinball over to the other teams orange line with balls that you throw with an overhand toss. On Friday the fourth graders took the geo bee instead of math. The questions were about the states, the 4 oceans, the 7 continents, it’s weird but it’s true, the countries, United states history, and one other one that I can’t remember. But it was fun and the two high scorers out of the fourth graders will go onto the next round. The third and fourth graders are learning about variations of traits in science class. It’s fun when we get to use the punnett square to decide if a flower baby will have round leaves or pointy leaves. Or if a flower will be red or orange. Last week the people in wordly wise worked on lesson 14. It was about silver water lilies that were made because of silver cows jumping into the lake because a boy was playing a few chords of music on his harp when he was sad. He was sad because a butcher was coming to take one of the silver cows away because it wasn’t making milk anymore so the boys mother wouldn’t keep a cow who wouldn’t make milk.
