The Secret Garden
by Frances Hodgson Burnett
The Secret Garden is about Mary Lennox, when she is forced to go to England after she becomes an orphan. When she gets to England she expects to have all things her way, such as being dressed. The woman who Mary thinks is going do this all for her is named Martha. One day Martha suggests that Mary should go outside to play with Martha’s little brother Dickon in the gardens. Mary learns to be a great friend to Dickon, a nature lover, and she learns not to expect a lot from other people. One day Mary hears crying from a room is her uncle’s big house. It sounds like a baby’s cry. Martha says it’s nothing but Mary knows Martha is hiding something. One day Mary finds a big room where a boy Mary’s age sits in bed crying. The boy says his name is Colin. Colin explains that his father(Mary’s uncle) is a hunchback and can’t even look at poor Colin without crying. Finally Mary leaves the room and asks Martha what happened to Colin’s mother. Martha tells Mary that Colin’s mother would go to the gardens everyday and climb trees. Colin’s mother was climbing her favorite tree when she fell and died instantly. Colin was born shortly before. Mary feels sorry for Colin, she feels that he needs to be able to be outside and to breath the fresh air. Mary is outside with Dickon when she falls into a mossy wall and it opens a door to another garden. Mary and Dickon find a tree with a broken branch. It was the tree that Colin’s mother had fell off. Mary decides to take Colin outside to the garden in his wheelchair. After many tries with Mary and Dickon, Colin gets up on his feet and guess what? There is not a single lump on Colin’s back. Finally Colin’s Father comes back from a long trip to see Colin on his own two feet with not a wheelchair is sight. It’s a joyous reunion between a father and son.
I really liked this book because I love in a book when a snob turns into a nature lover! It also showed friendship and it taught me that when you put your mind to anything, it works.

The Lion Children
By Maisie Angus and Travers Magkneiz
The Lion Children is about 4 kids living in England Oakley, Maisie, Angus, and Travers. But when their parents get divorced their mom decides to move to Africa with the kids. The kids learned how to fix tires and pull cars out of mud and work with their hands. Their adventures with the lions started when they met a lion researcher named Pierter. A couple months later they all moved into the Bush in cozy tents and a toilet that was just a hole in the ground. This book is about how the children fallow the lions and their encounters with the lions and how important it is to respect the lions.
I think this book is good for anyone who loves to adventure and cares for the wildlife. This book made me realize what people do to animals and how it hearts the ecosystem.
Wren
Wonder
By R.J. Palacio
One book that I am reading is called Wonder. Wonder is about a 10 year old boy who has a deformed face. Everybody would take a second look and talk about him behind his back. The boy’s name is August. August is very smart and a great friend. Everyone is scared of him because he looks weird. One day, August noticed that he was losing his hearing, so his parents bought him a pair of bionic hearing aids that kind of look like Lobot’s ears from Star Wars. With his hearing aids on he can hear people breathing if he adjusts the volume on the aids. August’s sister, Via, had a school play coming up. Via was amazing in the play. When the play ended, August and his sister were with their parents in the crowd of parents one minute, and the next minute August was all alone in the crowd of people. Then, suddenly he was picked up by someone familiar.
The reason I liked this book ,so far, is because it always gets better for the characters and then something really bad happens that surprises you. I can’t wait to read the end.

Ever After High Story Book Of Legends
Shannon Hale
On Legacy Day every year, the Ever After High royals and rebels sign the storybook of legends to have their destinies come true, to be the next generation of their fairy tale parents. The royals can not wait to sign, unlike the rebels, who feel like all students should write their own destinies.
I really like this book personally. I think that the book can get people thinking if they are a royal or a rebel. If they want to follow their parents’ footsteps or write their own destinies.

Ultimate Weird but True
By National Geographic
This book is about cool facts that people didn’t know and it tells me world records, things that people did that were dangerous, and showing weird things that exist on Earth. 2 things that I learned were that a giraffe has no vocal chords and taking 1 billion steps on Earth is like walking it 19 times!
I think everybody should have this book because you can easily learn something new because it has 1000 facts and photos.

I think they did super good with cartooning the characters. It was an exciting story because in each book each person in the book had something they liked. Lulu liked lists.

These two boys and a girl are trying to save these little burrowing owls that are illegal to harm from an all American pancake house and the bulldozing. One boy saw the other boy running and he followed the running boy and then the kid that was running told the boy about the burrowing owls. The kids told their class and convinced them to help stop the bulldozing. They convinced their class by telling them about it and showing them the article in the newspaper about the pancake house.
I think the book has a lot of action and teaches you about helping animals like burrowing owls are illegal to harm.

Title THE BLACK CAULDRON
Author LlOYD ALEXANDER
A book I read recently is about a evil person named Arawn and he is trying to take over the land of Prydian. He needs the black cauldron, a thing that makes evil creatures called cauldron born. They are dead people who have been thrown into the cauldron. The only way to destroy the cauldron is to put a living person into it. But that person will not come out alive.
I think that the book was good because it made you think about what was going to happen next. I have read several others in this series and I think this was as good as the rest.

Bobby Orr
by Bobby Orr
I’m reading Bobby Orr, I haven't finished the book. It’s about Bobby Orr going to school, fishing, and playing hockey. Bobby lives in Canada, he played for the Bruins. The beginning of the book talks about him going to hockey when we was small. Then it’s about his coaches teaching him how to play hockey. The book also talked about how his dad drove him to places while his brothers and sisters stayed home with their mom. His brothers and sisters wanted to play hockey, but they couldn't because their dad was too busy getting Bobby ready to play. Something that surprised me was that they didn’t wear helmets back when Bobby was learning to play, because they weren’t invented yet. When Bobby went into the NHL, helmets were invented, but they were too expensive, so not many people wore them. I hope in the end of the book Bobby doesn’t get hurt.

HIGH WIZARDRY
author -
Diarine, Nitas little sister has just become a wizard. She knows far too much for her age and has almost unlimited power. She is on her ordeal, most wizards die on their ordeal. Ordeals are the first quest a wizard goes on. On most ordeals the wizard is inexperienced and does not know about the language of the wizards. the reason this is so important is because the wizards language has words that can describe things are words can’t. On Diarine’s ordeal she is chased by aliens and defeats an evil force called the lone power. The lone power invented death, disease and danger.
I liked this book because I like fantasy and adventure and this book is full of fantasy and adventure.

THE HOBBIT
by J.R.R. Tolkien
So far, Bilbo Baggins, [the hobbit], hates adventures but Gandalf ,[ the wizard] , sends him out on an adventure with some dwarves and Gandalf comes too. Bilbo didn’t really want to go, but he went anyway. The dwarves came over to his house for dinner and breakfast, and they ate most of his food, but they were gone when he woke up in the morning. His house was back to normal in the morning. They left him a message to be at the Dragon Inn, and they talked about it a lot, and convinced him to meet them there. He was supposed to be the burglar to get the gold back for Thorin, the king of the dwarves. The dragon stole the gold from the dwarves and it’s in his cave in the Misty Mountains. I’m not sure why he decided to meet them, but he did and they were happy to see him.
I think Bilbo was scared to go on the adventure, but he went anyway.
OPINION: I like the book because it is about an adventure. I like the world where it is in Hobbitland. Some of the other parts are the Misty Mountains, and where Bilbo lives in Hobbitland. I think it is a good book
It’s hard to read sometimes because there are latin words in it.
Some parts are exciting and some parts aren’t.
