We read Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin. It was illustrated by Mary Azarian. The book was about Wilson Bentley. He was a boy who loved snowflakes. When he was 17 his parents bought him a camera. He took pictures of snowflakes. His neighbors thought it was a waste of time taking pictures of snowflakes. But he kept taking pictures of snowflakes. He showed slideshows to people. He gave pictures to his friends for presents. He also sold some. He walked six miles to his house one day and a couple of weeks later he died of pneumonia. Now there is a museum where you can look at his work. He has a book of snowflake pictures. We also read about another person who took pictures of snowflakes. We compared the two and answered questions about them. We also made our own snowflakes.

Last week we started writing response to literature essays. They were about the books we read which were either The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane, Shiloh, or Heidi Heckelbeck Has A Secret. We wrote two paragraphs about a character. Each one was about a characteristic. Then we wrote the introduction and the conclusion.
In P.E we learned a new game called cannonball. It is where you put a mat on scooters and someone rides it. A person also drives it and that person gives balls to the rider who tries to knock down other people’s cones and if they do the other person is out.

Last week our class learned about snowflakes. We also did some cutout snowflakes. I learned that all snowflakes are six sided In P.E we played a fun game called cannonball. Its where you and a friend are a group and you push around some mats on a scooter and try to knock other peoples cones over. Last week in music we finished watching the Nutcracker. Those are some of the highlights of last week.
