This week in science our class has been working on genetic traits. We grew plants to see which trait was the dominant and which was the recessive trait. We found out that the dominant trait was purple stems and the recessive trait was the green stems. In math both classes are getting ready for the SBAC. The SBAC is a test we take each year. For the fourth graders the test is all about geometry. The fourth grade class did a unit on geometry in math so we know a lot about the test. The test goes on for six days. I love the test because we get candy. The candy we get is lifesavers, jolly ranchers and star bursts. Next week is rainbow week. On Monday you wear red on Tuesday you wear orange on Wednesday you wear yellow on Thursday you wear green and on Friday you wear blue/purple. Last week we did a TFK also known as a Time for Kids. It was about 2016. There was a question that said what was a disappointment of 2016. I said a disappointment of 2016 was Donald Trump winning for president. He does not deserve to be president.

Last week we read a book called ‘’What do You Do with an Idea’’ by Kobi Yamada. With this book we wrote in our journals about what our ideas are. We wrote about what we want to invent , our future, and also what are things we think about. The book was all about how there is a boy with a idea and he was not sure what people would think of his idea but he still worked hard and finally all the people realized how cool his idea was. I think the book really inspired some people to show their ideas and work towards their dreams. And it is also a start of a new unit with being creative and studying famous inventors and innovators.
Last week some people planted their peas in soil and we are also starting to see the peas coming up.

In 4-winds we learned about winter ways. The first activity we did was where someone would give us hints and we would have to guess the animal that they described. Then we went outside and we looked for signs of animals. Some signs were tracks, dens, scat and woodpecker holes. Some other signs of life are when we saw firs, birches and conifers. We learned about going dormant, hibernating, being active and migrating. There was also a puppet show. We got to make dried flower arrangements. After 4 Winds, we read a book called Who Lives In The Snow. We are making a mural of animals in the snow.

Last week in school we went skiing. The whole school went. It was a lot of fun. I skied with my Mom, Zac fiona’s dad, Fiona, Mason, Lucy, Noah and me. We skied Jester, Push Over, and Sleeper. The school went skiing at Sugarbush. I noticed the higher you go up the chairlifts the colder, icy, and windier it gets. The conditions at the top of the mountain weren’t so great. As you got to the bottom it wasn’t as icy. I had a lot of fun since it was also our first day of skiing as a school since last year. Last week we also had P.E. In P.E. we played Sink the Ship. How you play is you are standing on a mat. You have cones at every corner of your mat. Mr. Green gets a big bag of balls and throws them out onto the gym floor. When the music starts your team can send out a lifeguard and the to collect balls. The goal is to through balls at the other teams pins.
