Last week we read a book about the Wright Brothers and how they made it able so that people could fly. So far we found out that the Wright Brothers made an airplane and were able to fly it in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. After they figured out how to fly they started to try and make a engine powered airplane and they were going to call it flier. The wright brothers made propellers for the wings and the engines that were in the shops were too big and heavy so they were going to build one by themselves. In PE last week we played two games one was called shark attack and it was about dribbling a ball and trying to not get it stolen by the shark that did not have a ball and if your ball did get stolen you would be the shark. The other PE game was a kickball sort of game where you had to kick a ball. So if you were kicking you would have to kick the ball and determine how far you would run you could go up to 4 or you could settle for 1 if you made it back and the ball wasn’t in with the hooper and the hooper was supposed to catch the ball but anyway if you made it back you would get bracelets of how many you ran to if you didn’t make back you wouldn’t get bracelets.

Last week and this week we have been learning about gliders and how they work. There are 3 different parts of a glider. The fuselage, the wings, and the horizontal stabilizer. We watched a video about gliders. Gliders are non powered aircrafts that rely on other forces to move them. The unit we are doing is called Flight and Stability. In Math we are starting a new Unit which is about geometry, or shapes. We are working on perimeter and angles. In PE we played a version of kickball. What happens is the pitcher rolls it to you and you kick it and someone on the catcher team will try to pass it as fast as you can to the person in the hoop. Meanwhile you are trying to run as fast as you can around 1,2,3, or 4 cones. But if you can’t run fast enough to get to the place where you kicked in time you don’t get any bands. But if you do you get as many bands as you did cones you went around.

In math fourth graders are learning division and third graders are learning more multiplication facts. Both classes are learning a new project called Project Lead the Way. Our first unit is on flight we are reading a book called To Fly. It is about the Wright Brothers and how they made planes. We are also doing a TFK about bears it is a battle about if bears should still be protected or not. In science we have been making gliders on an ipad app.Tomorrow the class is going to make three dimensional gliders.We are going to fly them and collect data.

Last week we finished our mystery stories to wrap up our mystery story unit. In math we finished a story problem unit. We started classifying shapes when we classified shapes we put them in groups with something in common like rectangles or squares. In art we colored in our leaf paintings with cool colors and warm colors.Then we drew wreaths with berries then we painted them. In french we did quizlet live it is a game, we also played french games like hangman, french go fish, we also made our own games. Madame also broke her leg when she was home over the weekend we are glad she is back. In health we did our health presentations about the body.
